Behavior Change Institute is a premier provider of Applied Behavior Analytic (ABA) treatment. We were founded in Alamogordo, New Mexico in 2014, when the young nephew of one of BCI’s Co-Founders was diagnosed with autism. With no ABA treatment options available in his small hometown of Alamogordo or the surrounding community, Behavior Change Institute was formed to bridge that gap, sparking our long-standing mission to bring compassionate, high-quality ABA services to rural communities across the state of New Mexico and beyond. What is Applied Behavior Analytic (ABA) treatment?

Applied Behavior Analysis is the only evidence-based best practice therapy treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) recognized by the US Surgeon General and by the American Psychological Association. This type of therapy focuses on improving specific behaviors, such as social skills, communication, reading, and academics as well as adaptive learning skills, such as fine motor dexterity, hygiene, grooming, domestic capabilities, punctuality, and job competence.

There is never a “one size fits all” approach to ABA therapy! Instead, an assessment is done to understand each learner’s unique goals and treatment objectives before a treatment plan is created by a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst). Treatment plans often involve several types of behavior modification techniques, such as repetition and positive reinforcement, as well as other unique tools and resources. Location: Santa Fe, NM
Schedule: Part-Time, Afternoons (3pm–7pm MT)
Pay: $23-25/hour DOE + $2/hr differential for after-hours sessions

Who We Are

Behavior Change Institute (BCI) is a nationally recognized leader in providing compassionate, evidence-based ABA therapy for individuals with autism and their families. We are expanding our team in Santa Fe and are seeking motivated individuals who want to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.

What You’ll Do

As a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), you will provide one-on-one support to children or adults diagnosed with autism, helping them build communication, social, and daily living skills. Responsibilities include:

Implementing behavior intervention plans developed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Collecting data and completing clinical documentation
Supporting clients in homes, schools, clinics, and community settings
Communicating with clinical supervisors and caregivers
Maintaining professionalism and ethical standards at all times

Schedule Requirements

Must be available at least four afternoons per week (3–7pm MT)
Preferred recurring schedules:
- Monday–Wednesday–Friday & 1 weekend day
- Monday–Thursday
- Monday–Friday
- Weekend shifts available if paired with weekday availability

Paid Training & Certification

No RBT credential? Training is provided and paid.
Complete a 2-week Behavior Specialist Academy
Begin working with clients while preparing for the RBT exam
Take the RBT exam within 60 days (Pearson testing center provided)
Already certified? You may begin services sooner
BCI is an approved RBT training provider

Minimum Requirements

18+ years old
High school diploma or GED
Able to pass background check and provide references
Reliable transportation
CPR/BLS certification within 30 days of hire
Ability to obtain RBT credential within required timeframe
Experience working with individuals with special needs (preferred, not required)

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, walk, or run as needed
Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs
Ability to support clients who may engage in physically aggressive behaviors
Full vision, hearing, and verbal communication required
